Privacy Policy

The Uganda Country Coordinating Mechanism (UCCM) to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (the “UCCM”) owns, operates and makes available and its family of sub-domain websites (collectively, the “Website”). The Website may contain features including Performance Web tools, RSS feeds, e-mail newsletter services, discussion forums, community pages, testimonials and other applications that may be available from time to time (collectively, the “Features”). This Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) is incorporated into the Website Terms of Use. Any person that uses the Website (the “Visitor”) or registers for an account on the Website (the “Member”) acknowledges having read and agrees to be bound by the terms and conditions of the Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy, as they may be amended from time to time. Any Visitor or Member that uses or accesses the Website agrees and consents to the collection of personal information in the manner outlined in this Privacy Policy

Information Collection

This Privacy Policy explains the information automatically collected from a Visitor’s computer or information submitted by a Visitor. The Website collects two categories of information: (i) general information, and (ii) personal information.

General Information: The Website automatically collects non-personally-identifiable information using the Website’s cookies to monitor Visitor usage patterns and information. Examples of the collected information include: (i) domain names, (ii) time and date stamps, (iii) IP addresses, browser types or operating systems, (iv) pages that a Visitor views and the links used to arrive at the pages, (v) domain names of other websites that linked to the Website, (vi) Website landing pages and (vii) other general demographic information.

Personally-Identifiable Information: Members that register with the Website to create a login account to gain access to designated sections of the Website or to gain privileges for certain Website tools or applications, may be asked to submit to the Website personal information including: (i) name, (ii) gender, (iii) city, (vi) country, (v) occupation, (vi) website, (vii) email address and (viii) other personally-identifiable information. The Website shall not collect personally-identifiable information without the consent of a Member. The Member also maintains a right of rectification with regard to personal information and may modify or delete their personal information, in whole or in part, at any time.

In order to access certain Features, Visitors may be asked to submit information such as their name and email address without registering for an account on the Website.

Registering or supplying personal information sets a cookie for certain portions of the Website that records details and information so Members do not need to resubmit information on a subsequent visit.
Joining discussion groups and submitting content on the Website may mean that other Visitors to the Website will be able to view personally-identifiable information submitted by a Visitor or Member.

Visitors may be able to interact with Website content through third-party social media websites and applications, which may allow the Website to access information about the Visitor’s social media profile. This may allow the Website to obtain other non-personally-identifiable information such as the Visitor’s engagement with the Website content. Social media profile information allows the Website to tailor content to each Visitor and communicate with Visitors through the social media websites and applications. Some social media websites and applications allow Visitors to designate privacy settings to control the information shared with the Website, so Visitors should review the privacy policies of their social media websites and applications before interacting with Website content through them. Any information provided through social media websites and applications will be handled in accord with this Privacy Policy.

Use of Information

Uganda Country Coordinating Mechanism (UCCM) will analyse browsing patterns and usage trends of Website Visitors with the general information collected. UCCM reserves the right to use personal information in order to tailor the Website to the Member’s specific needs, offer information that may be of interest to the Member, for analysis and other institutional purposes.


Small text files called cookies are sent to each Visitor’s Internet browser to help store preferences and record session information. Cookies enhance a Visitor’s experience on the Website by storing passwords and page-viewing preferences. They also allow Members to access Member-only webpages without re-registering. Cookies do not collect other data from a computer’s hard drive. Visitors have the option to enable and disable cookies; however, Visitors may not be able to use certain Website tools and applications if they disable cookies.

External Links

Links on the Website may connect Visitors to external or third-party websites that are not related to UCCM or under its control. UCCM is not responsible for the privacy practices of or the content found on external or third-party websites. The appearance of such external links on the Website does not represent UCCM’s endorsement or affiliation with the views and content found on the external websites. Visitors should review the individual privacy practices of external or third-party websites before accessing such websites as they may differ from the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.


The official, legally enforceable language of this document shall be English. Any question of interpretation shall be resolved based on the English version of this Privacy Policy and the Visitor agrees that this Privacy Policy be provided exclusively in the English language.

Disclosure of Information

Uganda Country Coordinating Mechanism (UCCM) reserves the right to disclose any Visitor or Member information, including personally identifiable information, when required by law or when necessary to investigate potential illegal activities such as fraud, violations of the Terms of Use, or when otherwise necessary to protect the property, rights and safety of UCCM Website Visitors or other third parties.

Dispute Settlement

Any dispute, controversy or claim arising out of or related to these Terms of Use or the breach, termination or invalidity thereof or to any use of the Website by the Visitor or of the content available therein and the applicable licenses, shall be settled by arbitration in accordance with the Democratic Republic of Uganda’s National Constitution. UCCM and the Visitor agree to be bound by the arbitration award rendered as a final adjudication. The appointment authority of such arbiter shall be the Uganda Country Coordinating Mechanism (UCCM) legal department.. The number of arbitrators shall be one. The language used in the arbitral proceedings shall be English.

Privileges and Immunities

Nothing in or related to these Terms of Use may be construed as a waiver, express or implied, of the privileges and immunities accorded to UCCM under: (i) international law, including international customary law, any international conventions, treaties or agreements.


Uganda Country Coordinating Mechanism (UCCM) may amend these Terms of Use at any time, and such amendments will be effective immediately upon notice being provided to the Visitor. Notice may be provided on the Website itself, and after posting of the notice, the Visitor’s continued use of the Website will be deemed as acceptance of the modified Terms of Use, so please check this page from time to time.
